How it works

1

Add lengths

Each run in feet and inches, with a quantity.

2

Set waste and price

Optional waste % for cuts and a per-foot price.

3

Read the total

Total LF with waste applied, plus the cost estimate.

Enter each length in feet and inches with a quantity — baseboard runs, pipe lengths, trim pieces — and get the total linear footage. Add a waste percentage for cuts and an optional price per foot for a quick cost estimate.

Linear footage is the most common unit in finish-carpentry and piping takeoffs; it prices everything from baseboard to conduit to crown molding.

Questions, answered

One foot of length — 12 inches measured along the piece regardless of width. Lumber, trim, pipe, and molding are sold by the linear foot; it measures length only, not area.
