FDOT Standard Plans are the Florida Department of Transportation's library of pre-approved design details — drainage structures, guardrail, signing, temporary traffic control, and more. When a plan set cites an index, the contractor builds to that detail; the designer only shows what differs.

Each index can have a companion Standard Plans Instructions (SPI) document — the fine print. The SPI states the design criteria the detail was built around, its assumptions and limitations, and what the project's plans must show when the index is cited.
