Design Assumptions and Limitations

Design Assumptions and Limitations Concrete Flared Driveways (previously known as: Flared Turnouts) are intended for curbed roadways designated as Connection Categories A and B. Refer to the design criteria in FDM 214 and FDM 222 for usage and design requirements. Based on the driveway categories, detectable warnings are typically not used in conjunction with Concrete Flared Driveways and should not be called for in the Plans.

Alpha-Numeric Identifications (e.g., G-1, M-1, & A-1) have been provided in Index 522- 003 for various standard driveway profiles to facilitate ease of callouts in the Plans. These identifications are classified based on right-of-way constraints (i.e., General, Marginal, and Adverse). Apply the options in accordance with the definitions in FDM 214 .

• Summary Boxes: Summarize quantities in the Summary of Sidewalk and Detectable Warnings or the Summary of Permanent Driveways , see BOE , Chapter
• 8. Detail the sidewalk and driveway layout in the Roadway Plan Views (i.e., show the intended sidewalk transition) and include the following callouts:
• 2. Side (either Left, Right or Median)
• 3. Driveway Profile Alpha-Numeric Identification Provide grade information on the Roadway Cross Sections or on Driveway Profiles at locations where additional grading is required beyond the back of sidewalk (i.e. Grade of Driveway , G D shown on Index 522-003 ) or if non-standard driveways are needed.
