Design Assumptions and Limitations Bridge Pedestrian/Bicycle Railing is limited to use on bridges with expansion joint thermal movements not exceeding 5". Scheme 3 is limited to bridge retrofit applications where additional sidewalk width is required. See Standard Plan s Instructions Index 515 - 0 52 for additional information.

For existing bridge retrofits special end treatment details may be required for perpendicular or flared wingwalls at Begin and End Bridge. Provide existing railing removal details when required.
