Design Assumptions and Limitations
Design Assumptions and Limitations Index 700-011 may not be used as a substitute for Index 700-020 . Only use Index 700-011 on curb & gutter facilities where the distance between the curb and the sidewalk restricts the use of Index 700-020 . If Index 700-011 is used, significant sign flutter should be expected during wind events.
The sign location should be checked to insure sufficient area exists behind the sidewalk for the column. Work with Index 700- 010 . See notes on Index 700-011 , FDM 230 , FDM 261 , and the Structures Manual (SM) , Volume 3.
Design Wind Speed is 110 MPH. Foundation designs are based on the following conservative soil criteria which cover the majority of soil types found in Florida: Classification = Cohesionless (Fine Sand) Friction Angle = 30 degrees Unit Weight = 50 pcf (assumed submerged)
